Learn to Tie Shoelaces Practice Board for Kids, Ages 3–6
The hallway. Eight minutes late. One shoe on, one lace trailing, and a small person insisting they can do it themselves — while you crouch there deciding whether today is the day you have the patience to let them.
Tying shoelaces is genuinely hard. It is a two-handed, out-of-sight, upside-down sequence that most children need dozens of unhurried attempts to master. The problem is almost never the child. It is that nearly all of those attempts happen at the front door, at the worst possible moment, on a foot that keeps moving.
This board moves the practice to the kitchen table on a Sunday afternoon, where nobody is late.
What's Included
- 2 wooden shoe-shaped practice boards — a left and a right — each measuring 9.3 × 14.3 × 0.5 cm (3.7 × 5.6 × 0.2 in)
- 8 eyelets on every board, set out as 4 pairs, exactly as they sit on a real trainer
- 2 practice shoelaces, one for each board
Why This Board Works
- It lies flat, and it stays still. A real shoe wobbles, sits at an awkward angle, and is usually attached to a foot. A flat board lets a child look straight down at the knot from the same angle every single time — which is exactly how a sequence gets memorised.
- Practice laces, not the ones on a trainer. The board comes with its own laces, so the shoes by the front door stay threaded and your child can practise on something built for the job. Lace colour and style are assorted and may differ from the photographs.
- It is a practical life skill, not a puzzle. The goal here is not entertainment — it is the morning your child gets their own shoes on without you.
- Quiet, portable and screen-free. It fits in a bag for long car journeys and waiting rooms, which are two of the best places in the world to practise something repetitive.
Ages & Safety
Recommended for ages 3 to 6, though many children start closer to 4. This set contains long laces. Cords are a strangulation risk for young children — please keep it for supervised play, never leave a child unattended with the laces, and store it out of reach between sessions. Not suitable for children under 3. Colours and finish may vary slightly from the photographs.
